Hello foster family! We’re so grateful you’re here. Thank you for taking the time to consider fostering with our rescue—opening your home to a dog in need is truly life-changing. Your compassion and willingness to help give these dogs a safe, loving environment means more than we can ever express.
What are the responsibilities of a foster parent?
When you welcome a foster dog into your home, we ask our foster families to take on a few simple but important responsibilities. Please care for your foster dog as you would your own—providing plenty of love, attention, and a safe environment. Regular exercise is important to keep them happy and healthy. We also ask that you try to implement basic training such as crate training, housebreaking, and basic good dog behavior. Lastly, we ask that you share photos and videos with us, as these help showcase the dog’s personality and are essential in finding them the perfect forever home. Additional responsibilities may include bringing your foster dog to be spayed or neutered, attending adoption events, and/ or meeting with potential adoptive families

What happens if a foster dog gets sick while in my care?
As a foster parent, you are not financially responsible for veterinary care. If your foster dog becomes ill, you must notify us right away. We partner with specific veterinarians and ask that all medical care be handled through them. Please do not take the dog to a vet without prior approval, as unauthorized visits may result in you being responsible for the cost.
Where do our dogs come from?
Most of our dogs are pulled from county shelters across North Carolina where they are at risk of euthanasia. By choosing to foster, you’re not only saving that dog’s life—you’re also helping create space for another dog in need, giving them a chance at rescue and a brighter future.



What is provided for me when I Foster?
We provide all supplies that you would need such as a crate, toys, bowls, food, puppy pads, etc. We do ask that you let us know if you are running low on something a few days prior to running out so that we can make sure we can restock you.

By fostering a dog from Dauntless Animal and Wildlife Rescue, I understand that I have to contact the rescue in the event of any behavioral or medical problems. Fostering does not guarantee the possibility of adoption in the event the family chooses to keep the dog. Dauntless animal and wildlife rescue reserves the right to refuse adoption to a foster family in order to get the best home for the dog. Failure to provide accurate information about the well being, both psychological and medical, of the dog will result in immediate removal of the dog from the foster home. The rescue has the right to remove the dog from the foster home at any time in the event the foster home is believed to be an inadequate environment for the dog. By fostering I understand that I will not seek veterinary attention for any foster dog until having contacted Brianna at 603-548-3629. An adoption fee will apply from the foster home in the event a foster home chooses to keep the foster dog forever
